Title IX Advisor Training | Title IX Informal Resolution Facilitator Training

ICS will allow attendees to post its training materials as required by OCR in §106.45(b)(10)(i)(D) of the new Title IX Regulations by the August 14, 2020 implementation deadline. Once registered for a virtual event, ICS will send additional instructions regarding this process.

Virtual Certified Title IX Coordinator Training

This training is not a webinar but an interactive live training to ensure Title IX Coordinators understand their role in compliance. Training will include the institution’s obligations under the new Title IX regulations, expectations of Title IX Coordinators, serving impartially, a deep dive into implementation and tracking of supportive measures, best practices for structuring your Title IX team under the new regulations, tracking patterns and trends to prevent sexual harassment and more. Attendees will receive compliance aids, the ability to collaborate with other Title IX Coordinators, and personalized, interactive instruction. Training will comply with the new Title IX Regulations.


Virtual Certified Decision Maker Training, Level 1

Training for Title IX decision makers is critical and now mandatory under the new Title IX regulations issued on May 6th. This virtual training is not a webinar, but instead a “live” and interactive experience. The sessions will include an overview of the Title IX and the new regulations, the definition of sexual harassment and the scope of program/activity, how to serve impartially in the role, the role of advisors in the process, the live hearing requirement, how to conduct relevancy assessments, burdens of proof and more. This training will incorporate hypotheticals to put the training information into practice and compliance aids. This training also includes a discussion of an institution’s requirements under the Clery Act/VAWA and its interplay with the new Title IX regulations. Appropriate for hearing panels, chairs, single decision makers and external decision makers. Prerequisite: ICS Level 1 Decision Maker Training or more than one year’s experience

This interactive training is specifically designed for hearing chairs and will provide instructional information on maintaining control of a hearing, managing advocates and advisors, and how to evaluate the relevance of requested questions. This training also includes a discussion of an institution’s requirements under the Clery Act/VAWA and its interplay with the new Title IX regulations. Attendees will receive training that complies with the requirements contained in the new Title IX Rules for Decision Makers.


Virtual Certified Decision-Maker - Appeals

Appellate decision-makers in the Title IX grievance process must be trained under the new regulations, whether they are reviewing dismissals of Formal Complaints or Determinations. This virtual training is not a webinar, but instead a “live” and interactive experience. The sessions will include the definitions of sexual harassment and program/activity, how to serve impartially in the role, the general Title IX process as prescribed under the new regulations, grounds for appeal under the new regulations, what constitutes the “record” and a review of an appeal, and more. Training will include all required matters under the Title IX regulations. The training will incorporate compliance aids and resources to assist with learning and tabletop exercises to put training into practice. Attendees will receive training that complies with the requirements contained in the new Title IX Rules for Decision Makers.

In light of the travel restrictions that colleges and universities are currently facing, ICS is excited to offer our VIRTUAL Title IX Investigator Training. This training will NOT be a webinar, but instead a “live” and interactive experience. The instructive sessions will include detailed information regarding investigative best practices, challenges faced by investigators, report and rational writing, and litigation trends resulting from investigations. The training also includes a discussion of an institution’s requirements under the Clery Act/VAWA and its interplay with the new Title IX regulations. This training will incorporate table top exercises in small discussion groups to put the training information into practice. Attendees will receive training that complies with the requirements contained in the new Title IX Rules for investigators.


Virtual Certified Investigator Training on Report Writing, Level 2

Prerequisite: ICS Level 1 Investigator Training and/or more than one year’s experience as a Title IX Investigator

Report writing can be challenging even for the most seasoned Title IX Investigators. Join Courtney and Betsy for this interactive virtual training focused on honing report writing skills for investigators. Attendees will participate in a 4 hour live intensive session where they will learn about rational report writing, evaluating evidence including credibility, best practices and considerations in writing the rationale section, recommendations and/or determinations and more. Attendees will then receive an investigative packet and have one week to prepare a report that is submitted for review and evaluation. Betsy and Courtney will then set up a time to provide feedback through a one-on-one session. Attendees will receive training that complies with the requirements contained in the new Title IX Rules for investigators.


Virtual Certified Title IX Advisor Training, Level 1

The new Title IX regulations provide that a complainant and respondent are entitled to a University/School District provided advisor, without fee or charge, in a live hearing in order to conduct cross-examination. Although the regulations do not require training for advisors, training is highly recommended on their role and function. This virtual training is not a webinar, but instead a “live” and interactive experience. It will include the roles of all University administrators in a Title IX process, an overview of Title IX investigations and hearings under the new regulations, and specific considerations on the role of the advisor. Participants will work through case studies to put the concepts learned into practice and also receive compliance aids. Space is limited to foster an interactive learning environment.


Virtual Certified Title IX Advisor Training, Level 2

Date: October 21, 10 AM – 12:30 PM EST
Cost: $350 | $250 for ICS Community Partners

The most anticipated role of an advisor under the new Title IX regulations is during the live hearing where advisors ask questions of the other parties and witnesses through “cross-examination.” This Level 2 training will provide a deep dive into the live hearing process, appropriate questioning and questions of parties and witnesses, relevancy considerations in “cross” and unique circumstances that may arise in the role when a party does not participate in the hearing. The training will include examples of questions that may be deemed irrelevant by a decision maker. Although the regulations do not require training for advisors, training is highly recommended. Prerequisites for this course is Title IX Advisor Training – Level 1, a prior ICS Virtual training under the new regulations or prior experience as an advisor (however, that is only upon petition to ICS for approval).


Virtual Certified Informal Resolution Facilitator Training, Level 1

The new Title IX regulations allow for informal resolution in sexual misconduct matters and also require training for Informal Resolution Facilitators. This virtual training is not a webinar, but instead a “live” and interactive experience. It will include the required training on the definition of sexual harassment, the scope of an institution’s education program or activity, how to conduct an informal resolution process and the different types of informal resolutions that may be considered, and how to fulfill the role and serve impartially, including avoiding prejudgment to the facts at issue, conflicts of interest, or bias. The training will also discuss the Title IX process under the new regulations and the facilitator’s role in that process. Participants will work through case studies to put the concepts learned into practice and also receive compliance aids. Space is limited to foster an interactive learning environment.
