Breakdown and Implementation of the New Title IX Regulations

This session is a detailed breakdown of the changes contained in the new Title IX regulations as well as robust implementation strategies to assist you with a plan forward. The session is live therefore attendees will have time to discuss transitions and questions with the presenters and each other in a “think tank” type environment. Annual Title IX training for hearing panel members and other appellate decision makers is critical. With the new Title IX Regulations that issued on May 6, training is not only critical, but also now required. This virtual training is not a webinar, but instead a “live” and interactive experience. The sessions will include an overview of Title IX and litigation trends that support panel hearings and how Title IX hearings are different than other conduct hearings on campus, a review of special considerations for complainants and respondents, the role of advisors in the process, how to conduct assessments of credibility and relevance, cross examination, burdens of proof, weighing direct and circumstantial evidence, and much more. This training will include interactive, mock hearings where participants have the opportunity to review hearing packets and ask questions of witnesses. Attendees will receive training that complies with the requirements contained in the new Title IX Rules for Decision Makers.

Prerequisite: Level 1 training
This interactive training is specifically designed for hearing chairs and will provide instructional information on maintaining control of a hearing, managing advocates and advisors, and how to evaluate the relevance of requested questions. Attendees will receive training that complies with the requirements contained in the new Title IX Rules for Decision Makers.

Date: June 23, 10 AM – 4 PM EST and June 24, 10 AM – 1 PM EST

In light of the travel restrictions that colleges and universities are currently facing, ICS is excited to offer our VIRTUAL Title IX Investigator Training. This training will NOT be a webinar, but instead a “live” and interactive experience. The instructive sessions will include detailed information regarding investigative best practices, challenges faced by investigators, report and rational writing, and litigation trends resulting from investigations. Participants will also conduct multiple mock investigations with their peers to put the education into practice. Attendees will receive training that complies with the requirements contained in the new Title IX Rules for investigators.


Virtual Certified Investigator Training on Report Writing, Level 2

Date: July 8, 2020, 11 AM – 3 PM EST
Cost: $199 | $99 for ICS members
Prerequisite: ICS Level 1 Investigator Training and/or more than one year’s experience as a Title IX Investigator

Report writing can be challenging even for the most seasoned Title IX Investigators. Join Courtney and Betsy for this interactive virtual training focused on honing report writing skills for investigators. Attendees will participate in a 4 hour live intensive session where they will learn about rational report writing, evaluating evidence including credibility, best practices and considerations in writing the rationale section, recommendations and/or determinations and more. Attendees will then receive an investigative packet and have one week to prepare a report that is submitted for review and evaluation. Betsy and Courtney will then set up a time to provide feedback through a one-on-one session. Attendees will receive training that complies with the requirements contained in the new Title IX Rules for investigators.
