The role of the Title IX Decision-Maker is complex under the new Title IX regulations, especially in light of the requirement for written Q&A in the decision-making process. Annual training will assist decision-makers in staying current with industry standard as well as any changes in the law or guidance. ICS’ 2021 Refresher and Update Training provides Title IX Decision-Makers with the following critical information to assist them in their role:

  1. Refresher: This portion of the training will be a refresher of mandated materials under the new Title IX regulations released in 2020. It will include the definition of sexual harassment, when it falls within a school’s program or activity, the formal Title IX grievance process as a whole and specific to the role of a decision-maker in the process, conflicts of interests and bias. As always, updated Compliance Aids that correspond to these concepts are included such as templates, checklists, and flow charts. The refresher will provide an in-depth review of real-world experiences and lessons learned this past year.
  2. Update: The Title IX landscape continues to evolve due to case law developments and changes in Office for Civil Rights guidance anticipated under President Biden. This portion of the training will provide attendees with comprehensive, up-to-date, information inclusive of all changes that have developed to date. Further, it will discuss the interplay of civil rights and Title IX matters and the interplay of the Formal Title IX Grievance Process and manifestation hearings, explusion hearings and other district processes that may overlap.
  3. Implementation: A signature of ICS training is hypotheticals to assist attendees in putting concepts into practice. A portion of training is dedicated to implementation strategies for decision-makers including the Q & A process and writing the written determination.

Trainings are interactive live trainings with personalized instruction. Attendees receive an inspection link and Certificate upon completion of training.
