Civil Rights Investigator Training is a live, interactive virtual training designed for professionals tasked with investigating protected class discrimination and harassment in educational institutions. This Level 1 training provides a comprehensive introduction to the legal and procedural landscape beyond Title IX sexual harassment, including Title VI, Title VII, the ADA, ADEA, and relevant state laws.

Participants will learn how to respond effectively to complaints from students, faculty, and staff involving discrimination based on race, color, national origin, disability, sex, age, and other protected characteristics. The training explores best practices for conducting thorough, fair, and impartial investigations, while addressing the unique considerations that arise when cases overlap with Title IX sexual harassment, OCR guidance, or EEO processes.

Through real-world scenarios, case studies, and discussion, attendees will also develop essential soft skills—such as assessing credibility, managing complex interviews, and making determinations of responsibility when serving in both investigative and decision-making roles.

This course is ideal for HR professionals, Equity Officers, EEO staff, Title IX Coordinators, Deputy Coordinators, Student Affairs personnel, and any administrator responsible for investigating civil rights complaints. Participants will receive a certificate of completion, compliance resources, and practical tools to support their investigative role.

Registrants must be present for at least 80% of the duration of the training to receive a certificate of completion.
